My Genoa Food Tour is:
A stroll in the narrow alleys of Genoa with me, a local food writer deeply in love with its city, the Italian Riviera traditional cuisine and its history.
A friendly little chat discovering Genoese flavours and culinary traditions. A small treasure hunt of the little shops scattered in the wide and mysterious historic centre of Genoa.
Together, walking, we will discover the first confectioners’ shop in Italy, one of the oldest chocolate factories, the ancient spice shops where time has stopped a century ago and the historical veggie market of the city. We will learn how to choose the best focaccia, where to take a liberty Italian coffee or taste the best “panera” ice-cream.
Along our way, between a “sciamadda” and a “friggitoria” I will tell you why Genoa can be considered the cradle of pasta, of street-food and of the Mediterranean diet. I will reveal you the origins of many famous Genoese dishes – from pesto to Recco cheese focaccia, from farinata to pansoti with walnuts sauce – and the legends that often accompany them.
It will be a short journey in the local costumes and food culture, a morning walk in the Italian Riviera cooking where the “augmented reality” will be the many samples we will eat during the path.
It’s an excursion for foodies who want discover a place through its typical flavors, making an unconventional custom experience out of the tourists’ routes. The tour is good also for vegetarians, as most Ligurian specialities are meatless.
And if you wish to bring back home some typical products I will be pleased to advise you and be your personal food shopper for a day.
The walk lasts 2 and a half hours.
Food tours take place on Thursday and Friday morning or afternoon.

Minimum people 2, maximum 8 (the tour shall remain as more custom and private as possible).
From November 2023 to February 24 open food tours are suspended. Though I’m available for private tours for groups of minimum 6 people.
